Probably named by settlers originally from Carrollton, IL, this city has come a long way from its humble beginnings when the name was made official and the first post office opened in 1878.
Today, home to 115,000 residents, Carrollton is the perfect blend of business and family life. It was recently named a national "Kid Friendly City," "Tree City USA," and Texas' Safest City!
It is in the top-3 cities in the region for new job creation, and continues to draw new businesses into the area, so the economic outlook is fantastic. Every neighborhood in the city is home to excellent schools, beautiful parks and greenbelts, and plenty of city services.
The city still has a great deal of room for added development, which it will need because of the high demand it's created through such good living conditions. The unemployment rate in Carrollton stay well below the national average. By the end of 2003, while much of the nation was still struggling with the economy, Carrollton's unemployment rate was below 4%.
Larger employers in the area include Halliburton Oil Field Products, RIA Computer Software, and ST Microelectronics Semiconductors.
Bringing together beauty, business, and everything residents could want in their neighborhoods, it's no wonder Carrollton is so popular today, and why it should remain so for many years to come.
