Historically a rural area, the location known as Colleyville today was originally settled in the 1850s. In the 1880s, a doctor named Lilburn Howard Colley moved into the region and became widely known as both a leader and a highly regarded physician. Over time, the place came to be known as Colleyville.

As late as the 1960s, Colleyville had fewer than 2000 residents. In recent decades, though, it has become more and more of a residential area, and today boasts a population of around 20,000.

Colleyville also has a very solid economic footing, scoring an unusually high credit rating for a town of this size. With lakes, parks, and yes, still farms, Colleyville offers a quiet kind of living within a strong and steadily growing population.
